Mid-Semester Blues

It has been quite sometime since I've posted anything, mostly due to my extremely busy schedule. Between Organic chemistry, Immunology, Genetics, Zoology, Junior Seminar and time with Courtney, my life proves too busy. The past three times I've been home, I feel as if I haven't spent any quality time with my family. However in the midst of my busy weeks, God continues to teach me lessons, especially about life and how we as humans get caught up in our daily routines. Routines that end up consuming our lives. I've been a victim for too long. By no means am I saying that I need to start being lax in my schoolwork. I'm currently trying to shift my mindset on that matter and begin to see it as another way to glorify God. In this way, even if I don't achieve a desired grade, I can still glorify my Creator in knowing that I have strived for my best.

A little about what I've been up to lately...

Three weeks ago, I left for Budapest, Hungary with a light team from school. It was an amazing trip! It was my first time to Europe, and God taught me a lot in the week we were there. We worked in a high school doing English as a second language. It was a interesting experience, as one or two of the students had better vocabulary than I did. Not to mention it's their third language. At night, we had English club, which is where we could invite the kids to come to the church to hang out and have fun while speaking english. It was a fun trip, however passed by too quickly.
Last weekend, Courtney and I got to go home to Georgia to visit with my family. Including Keith, Jenny, and Madison :) It was a fun visit, however I, again, had too much work to do over the weekend. The life of school I suppose.

I have officially started my countdown to May. We have a little over 5 weeks of school left! It is exciting just for me to think about that! Despite summer school, this summer is going to be fun! In May, I have the pleasure of sharing my birthday with Mothers day. Hopefully I won't forget to mention something to mom :) I also get to visit with the Lynns, and Courtney's extended family that weekend as they come down to Atlanta for vacation. I'm excited about it! Then at the beginning of June, right before summer school :( we are going on a cruise to Alaska to celebrate Dad's 50th birthday! He's gettn' old on us ;)
Well this is getting longer than I expected, I'm off to catch up on 24 for this week! Gotta go get my Bauer dosage...

Random Photo

Ok, I'm going to do the random picture since Jennifer (my sister) tagged me in a photo. Even though I wasn't smiling. :) It took me a minute to realize what this whole random picture thing was, but here is mine, The fourth Event with the fourth Photo. It's from a mountain biking trip I took a few months ago in North Carolina. I don't think any of the guys have Blogs, but it's Jon, Doug, Cameron, and Me. So here's your random photo.

The Beginning

Today is the First day of classes. So far I've only been to Organic, but I have Immunology, Genetics and oh yea, Golf today. I tagged on Golf yesterday. Seeing as it's only one hour credit and today is the only class we have to attend all year, I figured I could squeeze in a few rounds here and there. :)
This semester is gonna be really rough, but as Dr. Wilson said to us in Organic, "This semester, you're gonna see how badly you want it." The way my schedule is working out, it looks like I'll have some down time in between classes to study, and not have to come back to my house. (which is full of distractions) I'm off to Immunology, which should prove to be an exciting class. And I get to work with Dr. Eddy with Lab Assistant and Special Topics, so I'm pretty excited to see what this semester holds, yet nervous and scared at the same time.

My books were a little less this semester, only $275. For 3 books. What a bargain. I'm still unsure about this whole underground market of book-selling. Surely someone feels bad about ripping off college kids? Maybe someday it will change and they will stop seeing the need to obtain new additions of books every year!

Farva

Last spring, (as in a year ago) I entertained myself everyday by studying for Chemistry. One particular Sunday afternoon, I studied around 6 or 7 hours for a test. During my study I found myself in need of a break, so I relaxed with photobooth.

1st Mistake- Spending 34 seconds of my Life videotaping myself
2nd Mistake- Sending the Video to Keith and Jennifer, where they shared it
3rd Mistake- Continuing to show others my video
4th Mistake- Probably posting it on here

My first mistake paid off, because I ended up doing pretty well in Chemistry. Even though I made these mistakes, this video, (for some reason) has brought laughter and enjoyment to quite a few people. So I thought I would post it, so YOU could have easier access when finding it.

Enjoy.

First Blog Ever!

Yes, this is my first blog ever. I thought it would be fun to periodically stop by and jot down what I am thinking or something unusual that has happened to me throughout the day.
This past Sunday, Courtney surprised me by randomly showing up at Church two whole days before I expected her to come. She is Amazing!
For the past one and 1/2 months she has been giving me letters along with puzzle pieces, which inevitably led to part of my Christmas gift. My gift was a DVD that she had made for me throughout the past two months, which included memories.  She is really special to me, and extremely thoughtful when thinking of gifts.
However all good things must come to a close, and tomorrow I head back to Georgia to spend another week before school starts back. I'm looking forward to another week I can spend with my family. Speaking of school, I'm starting to fear this semester! Organic II, Genetics, Junior Seminar, Immunology, and 4 hrs of Lab Assistant will most defiantly keep me busy.
